Jimmy Rogers was not as prolific as the big four at Chess (Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson and Little Walter), but he was just as good in his writing, playing and singing. Plus, he had that same crack band that backed both Muddy and Little Walter, many times with those two included/5(8).

Born in in Frederick, Maryland, he started playing records on his parents’ phonograph and by the end of World War II, he had the collecting bug. During the s, 60s, and 70s, he led thousands of record expeditions through the mid-Atlantic region and the South, looking for 78s of jazz, blues, ethnic and down-home/bluegrass music.

Rogers virtually retired from music for a time during the '60s, operating a Westside clothing shop that burned down in the aftermath of Dr. Martin Luther King's tragic assassination. He returned to the studio in for Leon Russell's Shelter logo, cutting his first LP, Gold-Tailed Bird (with help from the Aces and Freddie King). There were a few more fine albums -- notably Ludella, a set.

Now you know the world's all in a tangle, man Everybody begin to sing this song The Reds are just over yonder boys And we ain't gonna be here long That's why I'm gonna build myself a cave Move down in the ground When I go into the army, babe Won't be no more Reds.

Fleetwood Mac in Chicago is an album by the rock band Fleetwood Mac released on 5 December It was the result of a recording session in early at Chess Records in Chicago (home to Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, et al.) with Fleetwood Mac, then a young British blues band, and a number of famous Chicago blues artists from whom they drew inspiration.
