Their most accessible album, Doolittle's wide-ranging moods and sounds make it one of their most eclectic and ambitious. A fun, freaky alternative to most other late-'80s college rock, it's easy to see why the album made the Pixies into underground rock stars.

The Pixies' finest combines Black Francis' maniacal glee with pop structure and loads of deranged melodies. One of the great guitar albums of all time -- from the catharsis of "Tame" through the perfection of "Here Comes Your Man," the album never falters. Without it, rock in the '90s would have been drastically different.

Mr Grieves is the Death character of mythology. The “man in the middle” is Dr Doolittle, because if you could speak to the animals you would be the great link between mankind and the animal world.

Doolittle is a really great album. I think I like it better than Surfer Rosa, which is also an excellent album. This album features excellent tracks such as "Monkey Gone to Heaven," "Here comes your Man", "Gouge Away", "LaLa Love You", "Debaser", and "Crackity Jones." This album is just eclectic, fun and different/5().

Jul 06,  · Doolittle is largely dominated by tight, pithy songs that swing from grinding angst (Debaser, Tame, Crackity Jones) to almost sweet, goofy pop (Here Comes Your Man, La La Love You). The album is too punk to be rock and too melodic to be punk. I suppose it would snuggle quite well between the Ramone’s "Rocket to Russia" and Green Day’s "Dookie.".
